DESCRIPTION
The Legionella Direct Field Test™ Kit is the simplest kit in the hydrosense range.
Requiring no sample preparation. The water can be collected from any source. Use the pipette provided to put 0.1 ml of water onto a test strip and wait 25 min. for the results. The test kit is optimised for use with hot and cold water systems, whirlpool spas, showers, cooling towers and other industrial water systems.

Specificity
The test has been shown to be non-reactive with the following bacteria (at 1×108 organisms per sample):
Acinetobacter calcoaceticus, Aeromonashydrophila subsp. hydrophila, Bacillus subtilis, Burkholderia cepacia, Citrobacterfreudii, Citrobacterkoseri, Escherichia coli, Enterobacter cloacae, Klebsiellaoxytoca, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Pseudomonas fluorescens, Pseudomonas putida, Pseudomonas stutzeri, Ralstoniapickettii, Raoultellaterrigena, Streptococcus pyrogenes, Yersinia ruckeri..
Staphylococcus aureus and Legionella pneumophila serogroups 4 and 7 in samples at concentrations higher than 1×108 organisms per sample may produce weak positive results. These concentrations are higher than would be expected to be present in normal water samples.
Legionella pneumophila serogroups 4 & 7 cross react with the test at concentrations >109 CFU/sample. The test does not react with any other L. pneumophila serogroups or L. species tested.
Biocides
A wide range of non-oxidizing biocides and bio dispersants have been checked for cross reaction and interference with the test.
The test should not be used on systems treated with biguanide or tetrakis hydroxymethyl phosphonium sulfate (THPS) based biocides
